3 Tips To Help Low Self Esteem For Woman Wanting To Improve Self Confidence

By: Silvia Dickens

Low self esteem deprives many of us of an otherwise happy life. It undermines our self confidence and can lead to depression and even anxiety.

Self esteem for a woman is extremely important, especially if she has a family. When she has low self esteem, it is often magnified as she tries to meet the demands made of her by her family, her job and other responsibilities. Often, she doesn’t take the time for herself that she needs in order to stay happy in her world. The result is that she can lose confidence in herself, which can cause her job and her family to suffer.

There are steps you can take to overcome this. Here are three tips to help low self esteem for a woman wanting to improve her self confidence.

First, learn to hear what your inner voice says. These are negative comments you make as you go about your day. They belittle and downplay the value of your accomplishments. This voice is a harsh inner critic that undermines your efforts and destroys self esteem and confidence over time.

Tip #1: Challenge the negative messages of your inner voice

If you listen closely, you’ll likely hear internal statements similar to this: “He says he liked dinner, but he’s just being nice. It was really terrible but he’s too polite to tell me what a rotten cook I am”. Instead of allowing that negative tone, exchange it for something like: “Wow, he really liked it. It might not have been perfect, but I worked really hard on this new recipe and I’m proud of the effort I put in. He says it’s good, and I believe him.”

By learning to hear and modify your thinking, you will be surprised how much this will help low self esteem issues.

Tip #2: Practice Self-Nurturing

As a woman with an active family, you likely don’t pay enough attention to yourself. You deprive yourself of some of that TLC that you are constantly giving away. The secret to gaining self esteem for a woman like you is to take time for yourself. This can include: get enough sleep, get regular exercise, and eat nutritious meals regularly. Don’t be afraid to put yourself first sometimes.

Plan some fun for yourself. Schedule gardening, enjoying a movie, or other pastime you’ve not allowed yourself to enjoy. Set aside time for your favorite hobby or interest.

Recognize your achievements by looking at mementos, awards, photos, keepsakes, special letters, and even your educational and career accomplishments. Bring it up in conversation with your friends and trade stories of success.

Tip #3: Seek Support from Friends, Family and Others

Sometimes we are so busy helping and supporting others, we forget about ourselves. Don’t be afraid to ask for a hug, or an opportunity to sit down and talk. Talking over problems and feelings with people you trust can be extremely beneficial. It has proven to lower the frustrations, improve feelings of self worth and help low self esteem.

These are just a few of the steps you can take right now to build self esteem and improve self confidence.
