Low Self-Esteem and Work Related Problems
By: Bee Yourself
If you’ve taken the time to look at a couple of people who are successful, you usually tend to see that they are brimming with self-confidence in the way they think about themselves and what they can achieve. In order to see yourself for who you truly are and what you can achieve you need to exhibit a strong sense of self-esteem. People who fail to do so often end up failing to succeed and being stepped on by other people in the workplace. Bold, self-confident people exhibit the necessary authority and command the respect people who are entrusted with responsibility require. People with low self-esteem may have the necessary qualifications to be the ones in charge but their lack of self-confidence deprives them of the chance for others to see them for who they really are.
People who have problems in areas of career advancement might want to take a critical look at themselves and the self-esteem they currently have. Low self-esteem may be the factor that is standing in the way of their success in the area of career advancement by preventing others from seeing the level of potential these individuals are imbued with. Take a look at these factors and see how they affect your career.
No Self Control.
Without the ability to control yourself and your abilities you’ll find it hard to get other people to do the necessary things that they need to. People with bigger job descriptions tend to have the leadership ability and the self-control to motivate others to do what they have to.
No Energy.
Low self-esteem is often characterized by an individual’s lack of energy to do the tasks assigned to them. People who tend to progress in their jobs are people who have the required energy to be able to multi-task effectively and handle different projects simultaneously.
No Confidence.
If you have no confidence it yourself and it shows, you tend to affect the way that other people see you as well. This lack of confidence also affect your abilities to stick to goals, handle projects and the ability to do what you have to do as well.
No Intimacy.
People who find themselves in the conditions of low self-esteem also find it hard to get intimate or connect on a personal level to people around them. Close relationships on a professional level are necessary to get ahead in the workplace.
Fear of the Unknown.
People with low self-esteem tend to be scared of people they do not know and certain factors that they are unaware of. Such people are often afraid of meeting new people or trying new things. Anything that gets them out of their comfort zone and gives them a fear of rejection will be avoided.
Failure to Take Responsibility.
People with a low sense of self-esteem find it hard to take any form of criticism whatsoever and are always blaming others for their failure. Such people also lack the strength to tackle problems as they come up and the strength to do what needs to be done.
Changing Jobs Frequently.
People with low self-esteem find it hard to get promoted because they always tend to leave a company before any chance of promotion comes up. They are always restless in one job and never hang around long enough to make the required impression on other people who can further their careers.
